"How Biblical Investing, Purposeful Planning, and Generational Legacy Can Transform Your Financial Life — and Your Family’s"
CHRISTIAN BRIDGES · CFP® · EA · AAMS® · CPFA®
Your portfolio may be funding things you’d never choose to fund.
Most Christian investors tithe faithfully, give generously, and think carefully about every dollar that leaves their hands — except
one category. Their investment portfolio. Not because they don’t care. Because nobody told them to look inside the box.
The 1322 Principle is the book that changes that conversation — for Christian investors, business owners, and families who want
every area of their financial life to reflect the same faith that shapes the rest of it.

“Christian, I want to make sure that however you invest my money, it’s in a way that God would be
happy with me when I die and I stand before Him. I want to hear ‘well done, good and faithful servant.’
And I want to know that includes my investment portfolio.”
A CLIENT — THE QUESTION THAT SHAPED EVERYTHING THIS BOOK IS BUILT AROUND
WHO THIS BOOK IS FOR
Written for three readers — though most will recognize themselves in
all three.
The Christian Investor
You’ve wondered whether your portfolio reflects what you believe — but nobody’s ever handed you the tools to find out. This book gives you the framework, the language, and the practical steps to examine your investments and align them with your faith.
The Christian Business Owner
You’ve integrated faith into your personal life — but the business runs on a different set of rules. This book opens a conversation about the stewardship responsibilities that come with employing people, designing benefits, and building a company culture that reflects what you believe.
The Pastor or Church Leader
You counsel families navigating financial crisis and shepherd congregations full of investors who’ve never examined their portfolios through a faith lens. This book gives you the language and framework to bridge that gap and direct the people in your care toward the right advisors and convictions.
INSIDE THE BOOK
Seven parts. Twenty-two chapters. One complete framework.
PART ONE
The Foundation
The theology of money that changes everything — God’s ownership, the stewardship standard, and why the $22 trillion misalignment exists in the first place.
PART TWO
Biblically Responsible Investing
What BRI actually is, how screening works, what the performance data really shows, and how to discover what your portfolio is actually funding.
PART THREE
The Christian Investor
How to find a fiduciary, faith-based advisor — and how to navigate the conversation when your spouse isn’t yet convinced.
PART FOUR
The Christian Business Owner
Your retirement plan, your culture, your benefits, your profit — and how to bring your faith into every corner of the business you’ve built.
PART FIVE
The Complete Planning Process
Eight planning areas covered in full — cash flow, risk management, education, retirement, taxes, estate planning, giving, and legacy — each shaped by a biblical framework.
PART SIX
Legacy
The five dimensions of a biblical family legacy, the annual family meeting, and how to prepare the next generation to be stewards — not just heirs.
PART SEVEN
Finishing Well
What it means to be a good and faithful steward to the end — and how Thirteen Twenty-Two Advisors can walk alongside you as you build the financial life, and the legacy, this book is pointing toward.
The lawsuit that named this book
For twelve years, we built our firm under one name. Then a lawsuit arrived — a competitor had filed a trademark application that was still pending when we registered, invisible in our search. The attorneys confirmed we’d done nothing wrong. But the practical reality was clear: we were going to rebrand.
My business partner Joe Brownback and I spent weeks searching for a new name — one that reflected our faith, our commitment to biblically responsible investing, and our comprehensive planning approach. Every name we found either hit a state conflict or a federal trademark problem. We had a Friday deadline. By Thursday at 5:00 p.m., we had nothing.
We agreed to go home, pray about it, and come back the next morning. Shortly after Joe left, I sat back in my chair and said the most honest prayer I’d prayed in a long time:
“God, you’ve got to show us what you want us to do.”
In that moment, the number 1322 came to mind.
I had no idea what 1322 represented. But I had a feeling it was Scripture. So I went to Psalms first, and then to Proverbs.
And there it was.
“A wise person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children.”
PROVERBS 13:22
The planning process we had always believed in — one that addressed so much more than the financial aspect of money — had a name. A number. A verse.
That is why our firm is called Thirteen Twenty-Two Advisors. And that is why this book is called The 1322 Principle.
THE THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION
Four convictions that change how you carry money.
God is the Owner. You are the manager.
Every dollar you have ever earned, saved, or given was always on loan. The question was never what will I do with my money — it was always what does the Owner want done with what He has entrusted to me.
Faithfulness is the standard — not success.
God evaluates stewardship by faithfulness, not outcomes. The financial plan built around this conviction measures success differently than any benchmark comparison ever could.
The question of enough must be answered.
At what point is the household genuinely funded — such that resources beyond that point are better deployed outward than accumulated inward? Most financial planning never asks this question.
Every financial decision has an eternal dimension.
Where your treasure is, there your heart will be. Intentional, values-driven investing is not just ethically responsible — it is a form of spiritual formation.

“The money we have is not ours. It is not how much
should I give? It is how much should I keep? It is all
God’s. And that is not just our money — because
generosity is not just about money. It is about life, it is
about time, it is about relationships.”

“You can’t take it with you — but you can send it on ahead.
The giving this book describes is not a strategy for getting
more from God. It is a response to having already received
everything from God.”

BEGIN THE CONVERSATION
The financial plan you have may be built around the wrong question.
The right question is the one a widow asked in a financial advisor’s office one afternoon — and this book is the
answer.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
